Rose Petals and Symbolisms in Death
Following on from our blog about why we place lavender into our coffins, being a women funeral directors we are always looking at ways to make moments so special when families have to say goodbye to a loved one.
Our inhouse florists "Flowers At Number 3" situated next door to us, talked to us about the special meanings of roses and their petals, which is why we can now place rose petals (as an alternative to lavender) inside coffins if families feel this is appropriate.
What's the significance of Rose Petals at a funeral?
They symbolise love, beauty, purity and spirituality.
Long been connected with love, roses make the ultimate gesture in love, romance, affection and bringing memories of emotional bonds between individuals.
Throughout history roses have held a place significance. For example, in religion of Hinduism they are used in prayers, and in Christianity rose petals were significant as purity in the Virgin Mary. Roses and petals have been used for years in rituals, medicines, spiritual connections and emotional celebrations such as Valentines Day.
Its the little things that set Amanda-Louise Funeral Directors apart
