There is a Death Financial Plan with Another Funeral Director, Can I Change Provider?
Sometimes people take out a death plan with a corporate funeral directors, but later they or their family prefer to opt to have an independent local funeral director instead.
You can change over to an independent director and still use the monies from the corporate funeral directors’ plan, by simply arranging to cancel and cash in that plan. You can then use those monies to pay whoever you choose to provide the services. Ask us if you need more support with this.
What Questions Should I Ask the Funeral Directors When Considering Whom To Choose?
Below are a few questions you may wish to ask (along with your own!):-
1.If they are associated with one of the two organisations that oversee the funeral industry ie SAIF for independent funeral directors? When was their last inspection, and what was the outcome?
2.Can they accommodate to providing a bespoke funeral for your needs? Can you provide everything for me such as flowers, coffins, a variety of vehicles for the departed and the family, cremated ashes memorial keepsakes or grave headstones?
3.Where will your loved one be looked after ie are they in the funeral home, or off site in a warehouse or garage facility? Is it a clinical environment? Who has access into that area? Who will be looking after my loved one? Can I see my loved one? Can I help with washing them, getting them dressed, applying makeup if that is important to me?
4.Are you experienced in military funerals, greener funerals that are kinder to the environment?
5.Do you provide direct attended cremations? Which crematoriums do you use for these, and what standard of support to my departed loved one do you provide thats different from say your attended funerals? Are the coffins different? Can you help me have a separate memorial gathering so the family can celebrate their life, if we have a direct cremation?
6.Can we have a funeral service in your funeral home, that is officiated by a Celebrant, Minister or a member of the family? Can you provide webcasting too, so that family who cant attend, can watch it from their home? Do you provide catering too, so we can enjoy our gathering with a variety of food and drink options in your funeral home?
7.Do you have inhouse celebrant services? Can you recommend celebrants that will match our tone and style we want for the funeral?
8.Are you a telesales funeral services, or a funeral services that are local and I can meet them face to face?
9.Do you have policies and procedures that underpin how you work? Can you send them to me? Will you send me a quotation after our initial meeting?
